Welcome to The Popcorn Prophet! Here we discuss all the upcoming movies from the world's most exciting studios, gathered in one place to foretell for your moviegoing future. Enjoy!
It's not just for your arthouse friends anymore: A24 is a studio certifiably on the rise. From its oddball origins in indies likeSpring Breakers to its box-office dominating 2022 triumph Everything Everywhere All At Once, A24 has come a long way, picking up a reputation for stellar, boundary-pushing movies along the way. And as Willy Wonka once screamed to a bunch of horrified children in his trauma tunnel, "they are certainly not showing / any signs that they are slowing!"(A pretty A24-coded scene, one must point out.)
To help you keep track of the studio's meteoric rise in both the indie movie scene as well as its mainstream sister, Popverse has put together this handy guide to every upcoming A24 film. We've included every movie from the studio we know about so far, along with every known release date, and will be updating this list each time we get more information in those regards. So sit back and learn what adventures await you, A24 enthusiasts - we can pretty much guarantee they'll be weird ones.
Upcoming A24 movies in 2024
As of this writing, 2024 is in circling the proverbial drain, which is both good and bad considering, well, everything that went on in 2024. But before the year is out, there are some notable A24 releases that deserve your attention, starting with the high-anticipated Daniel Craig/Luca Guadagnino collaboration Queer. Following on the heels of that LGBTQ+ romance (and let's face it, probable Oscar contender) is SNL alum Kyle Mooney's horror comedy Y2K, the Adrien Brody-starring historical drama The Brutalist, and finally, the Nicole Kidman/Harris Dickinson erotic thriller Babygirl. Check out their release dates below.
Title | Release Date |
---|---|
Queer | November 27, 2024 |
Y2K | December 6, 2024 |
The Brutalist | December 20, 2024 |
Babygirl | December 25, 2024 |
Upcoming A24 movies in 2025
Opening the A24 calendar next year is the absolutely delightful-looking Legend of Ochi, a "kid-befriends-a-monster" story with gorgeous cinematography, a real puppet as its star, and most adorably of all, Willem Dafoe. Sadly, the rest of the titles are so far undated (save for the fact that they're due in 2025), but as we promised earlier, we'll be sure to keep refreshing our Google alerts to make sure you know any new info as soon as we do.
Title | Release Date |

Upcoming A24 movies with no release date
And finally, we come the the last portion of our handy guide, the projects with absolutely no production or release dates currently attached. That's not to say we don't know a little about each one of these - for example, we know that America's fun uncle Paul Rudd and goth sister Jenna Ortega will team up for dark comedy Death of a Unicorn, which will also feature (get this) music by John Carpenter. Spike Lee's High and Low, Josh Safdie's Marty Supreme, and the Pete Davidson/Orlando Bloom vehicle Wizards! are also some known quantities on the horizon for A24, the full list of which is below.

Thus completes our look forward into everything that A24 has coming down the pipe. But before we leave you, we wanted to provide answers to some frequently-asked questions about the indie titan, just in case you're a newbie to the studio's offerings (welcome, by the way, you're gonna have a blast). We'll start with...
What is A24 known for?
There is no one type of movie that can paint the full picture of A24's sweeping output, however, it's hard not to mention the studio's massive achievements in the horror genre. Ti West's X Trilogy, Robert Eggers's The Witch and The Lighthouse, and Ari Aster's Hereditary and Midsommar all feature the studio's logo in their opening credits, and were all examples of some of the most successful scary movies in the modern era.
Where can I watch A24 movies?
In December of 2023, A24 inked a deal with Warner Bros. to exclusively stream their future projects on Max. So if you start at that time - around the streaming release of the Cailee Spaeny-starring Priscilla - you can expect to see the A24 films that have come out since and the ones that are still on their way on that streaming platform. Pre-Priscilla, however, you may need to do some digging when it comes to streaming, although every A24 film is available to rent on Amazon.
What does A24 stand for?
A24 doesn't stand for anything, per se, but it's also not just a random mix of letters and numbers. According to a GQ interview given by co-founder and chairman Daniel Katz, the name was inspired by the A24 motorway in Italy, upon which Katz was driving as he came up with the idea for the studio. So now you have Italy to thank for the best movies as well as the best food (fight me).
Why is A24 so successful?
Hoo boy. Asking the big questions as we wrap up, eh? It's almost like you just want to keep me talking.
It's impossible to pinpoint exactly one reason why A24 is successful. To be perfectly accurate, we'd have to speak to everyone who's ever purchased a ticket to an A24 movie and ask them why. However, one thing we can point to is the fact that, in a cinematic landscape dominated by the leveraging of preexisting IPs (or the attempt to do so), A24 tends to rely on original storytelling, eschewing the familiar for the fantastic. There's also the fact that A24 purposefully seeks out up-and-coming filmmakers with different styles, best summarized in these 2023 quotes from a few of A24's breakout stars:
"What they do is allow film-makers to be idiosyncratic. You go to their films and expect something in the maker’s voice," Moonlight director Barry Jenkins tellsThe Guardian. Lulu Wang, director of 2019's The Farewell, follows this up - "Our industry has changed. And who is saving cinema? [...] We have to draw people to theatres. And we don’t want the tentpoles to be the only things on offer."
Exactly, Ms.Wang. People have seen enough of the tentpoles, and now, they'd like to explore the rest of the carnival. Perhaps even (and I say this with the utmost admiration) the occasional freakshow.
